What’s the story?

XREAL has launched XREAL AURA, a pair of optical see-through XR glasses running Android XR, developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm Technologies.

Why it matters

Android XR gives XREAL AURA wearers day-one access to millions of Google Play apps and over 150 made-for-XR experiences, with Google’s Gemini AI working across what they see and do.

The bigger picture

Described by XREAL as the world’s first wired XR glasses powered by Android XR, XREAL AURA lays early groundwork for what Android XR could become: a shared foundation for glasses from many makers, in the way Android became one for smartphones.

October 29, 2026 – XREAL, a developer of consumer augmented reality (AR) glasses and spatial computing devices, has this week officially launched XREAL AURA, which the company describes as the world’s first wired extended reality (XR) glasses powered by Android XR. Announced at Google’s Android Developer Summit, the device was developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm Technologies.

XREAL AURA is a pair of optical see-through XR glasses designed for work, entertainment, gaming, AI-powered assistance, and everyday spatial computing. Unlike fully enclosed headsets, the glasses use transparent optical see-through lenses to display digital content in the wearer’s field of view, while still allowing the user to remain aware of the room and people around them. The main compute and battery are housed in a compact puck, a split-compute architecture that XREAL stated keeps the glasses under 95 grams.

According to the company, users have access on day one to millions of mobile apps and games from Google Play alongside experiences built specifically for XR, with hand and voice inputs and Google’s Gemini AI working across what users see and do. Using Wired Mirroring, a laptop or handheld gaming console can be plugged into the glasses via USB-C and shown as a private spatial window alongside native Android XR apps. XREAL noted that AURA can serve as a portable multi-window workspace without a physical monitor, a private theater for streaming apps, and a display for Android and mirrored console games.

“This is a defining moment for XR. We built AURA for people who want the power of spatial computing without being removed from the world around them. With transparent lenses, a category-leading lightweight design, Gemini by your side, and access to the Android ecosystem from day-one, the promise of XR is more approachable than ever,” said Chi Xu, co-founder and CEO of XREAL. “XREAL AURA is finally here, and we’re so proud to unlock new ways for people to work, watch, play, and build.”

The glasses launch with a library of over 150 made-for-XR experiences, including the NBA App for Android XR, Nevatars from Andy Serkis, Fallout: Factions, Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars, the NASCAR XR App, the puzzle game Cubism, and enterprise tools such as ShapesXR.

Features of XREAL AURA include a 70-degree field of view, Sony Micro-OLED display technology with 1200p resolution at 120Hz, Sound by Bose audio, electrochromic dimming for immersive viewing, and USB-C connectivity. The glasses are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite Platform and XREAL’s X1S chip, and support voice, hand, keyboard, trackpad, and game controller inputs. According to XREAL, AURA has earned five certifications from TÜV Rheinland, an independent testing, inspection, and certification body, covering Eye Comfort (5 Star), High Visibility, Low Blue Light, Flicker Free, and Color Accuracy.

XREAL also unveiled a game controller designed in collaboration with GameSir, which features a dedicated Gemini key, and a wireless portable keyboard.

XREAL AURA is available to order now in the United States, Canada, Japan, and South Korea at XREAL.com/aura, and in the United States at BestBuy.com. The 12GB + 256GB configuration is priced at USD $1,279 and the 16GB + 512GB configuration at $1,499, with respective limited-time launch offers of $1,099 and $1,299 through December 2026. XREAL added that shipping is expected to begin in mid-November.
