Last week, Pearl Abyss stunned Crimson Desertfans by revealing the game's Enhanced version. Released for free for all owners of the game, the new version delivered the promised story improvements which make a significant difference right from the beginning of Kliff's adventure, improving story clarity and flow so much that it almost feels like an entirely different experience. However, Pearl Abyss wasn't yet done with surprises following the launch of a free, cloud gaming playable demo, as during today's PlayStation State of Play presentation, the Korean developer announced the Charting the Unknown expansion ahead of yet another big patch, which is launching sooner than most expected.
The new trailer provides an overview of the expansion's content, which will see Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane embark on a new journey to discover their purpose and shape their future. Besides introducing the first story elements, the trailer also confirmed that the expansion will have plenty of maritime gameplay elements, including the ability to command a ship, underwater exploration, and more. In addition, the first few combat snippets showcased some destructive new skills which are set to make what is, in my opinion, the game's best feature even better.
Surprising everyone, Pearl Abyss confirmed in the Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown announcement trailer that the expansion is launching on October 15, which is sooner than most expected. While the release timing is unfortunate, as games like Valor Mortis and Castlevania: Belmont's Curse will release the same week, being able to return to Pywel so soon in what looks to be a packed adventure is set to make fans very happy.
