Naughty Dog Confirms Two New Last Of Us Projects Beyond Ellie’s Story

Naughty Dog is working on two new projects set in the world of The Last of Us, according to DualShockers. Studio head Neil Druckmann confirmed both will push the story past Part I and Part II.

Druckmann shared the update during a charity stream held to mark The Last of Us Day 2026 on Monday, September 28. He said the studio has discussed telling more stories in the series since the Part II documentary Grounded II. Both are in very early stages.

Druckmann added that Naughty Dog does not return to the franchise unless it has something meaningful to say. The team believes these stories are worth telling, he said. He did not say whether the projects are games.

Intergalactic Reveal Pushed To 2027

Naughty Dog also used the stream to delay the full reveal of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet until 2027. Druckmann described the sci-fi title as shaping up to be the studio's most ambitious game yet.

He said the team needs more time before showing it off properly. There were no further updates for 2026.

Intergalactic follows bounty hunter Jordan A. Mun, played by actor Tati Gabrielle, after she becomes stranded on the planet Sempiria. The planet has had no contact with the wider universe for hundreds of years.

Season 3 Casting And Day Celebrations

According to Yahoo Tech, three actors are joining season three of HBO's The Last of Us adaptation.

John Goodman will play a new character named Joey. Laura Bailey will play a Seraphite leader called Elizabeth. Ian Alexander will take on a currently unnamed role.

Bailey previously voiced Abby in The Last of Us Part II and played a nurse in the show's first season. Alexander portrayed Lev in the second game. He joined the series cast afterward.

Naughty Dog also released a free animated PS5 background for the PlayStation Welcome Hub, featuring both young and older versions of Ellie. The studio ran a No Return charity stream on Twitch as part of the day's celebrations.
