Gege Akutami's Jujutsu Kaisen world is continually expanding. Even after the conclusion of the original manga, the author returned with Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, a short sequel spin-off story set 68 years after the conclusion of the original series. While the vast majority of the new series was set on a completely new set of characters, the creator shocked us all when he set up the return of the greatest duo in the story.
That is the duo of Yuji Itadori and Nobara. In the original story, this duo collaborated on multiple occasions, such as against Eso and Kechizu. In JJK Modulo, this duo returned once again in Chapter 25 on March 9, 2026, in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 15, and they have a bigger role to play in the future.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Officially Brings Back The Duo Of Yuji And Nobara
Yuji and Nobara form a duo that the vast majority of the JJK fans absolutely adore. With Nobara being the main heroine of Jujutsu Kaisen, it goes without saying that her collaboration with Yuji was always loved by all the fans. These two collaborated together in various fights, and the pinnacle of that was their tag team battle against Eso and Kechizu, two of the Death Paintings that they took on together in Chapter 59 of the manga on May 20, 2019.
They fought together once again against Mahito in the Shibuya Incident, but unfortunately, it was here that Nobara suffered a deadly blow from Idle Transfiguration directly from Mahito. Her return happened in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 267, which was officially released by Gege Akutami on August 26, 2024, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #39. In this chapter, Nobara finally woke up and helped Yuji Itadori defeat Ryomen Sukuna by using Resonance on one of his fingers. Together with Megumi Fushiguro, Nobara played a significant role in the fall of the King of Curses and the saving of the Jujutsu world.
“Let's see some smiles, boys!! How's that for opp, you damn idiot!” — Nobara Kugisaki returns, JJK Chapter #267
Now, in JJK Modulo, the duo of Nobara and Yuji has come together once again, as was confirmed to us on March 9, 2026. Nobara initially returned in Gege Akutami's Modulo sequel at the end of the first volume. However, her role was very limited because Yuji Itadori had not shown up in the manga at the time. Yuji only returned later down the line in Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo chapter 19, which was released on January 26, 2026, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #9. After that, Yuji's role in the manga became far more pronounced as he directly aided in the removal of Cursed Energy from the next generation of Japanese people. To that end, Nobara was also brought into the fold once again. At the end of the Modulo story, Yuji and Nobara started working together as a duo once again.
Yuji Itadori: Yo!
Nobara: You think you get to “yo” me after you disappear?
Yuji: Sorry.

The Role Of Yuji And Nobara In The New Era
The role of Yuji Itadori and Nobara Kugisaki as a duo is crucial for the future of Japan. In JJK Modulo Chapter 25, Yuji Itadori officially explained to us that he plans to transform Japanese sorcerer society forever. At the very end of the Modulo story, together with help from Maru, Yuji Itadori utilized Idle Transfiguration and had the Cursed Energy removed from all of the future Japanese people as much as possible.
Yuji: I should've done this with my own power. But I won't disregard my purpose any longer. There's something I need to do. And to do that, I need your help, Kugisaki!
Nobara: Heh, alright then!
— Yuji and Nobara team up once again, JJK Modulo Chapter #25
While the current generation of sorcerers still holds on to Cursed Energy, the next generation will only be born with trace amounts, just like Maki was at the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen.
The goal for Yuji Itadori from here on out will be to prevent casualties from the Cursed Spirits born from the trace amounts of Cursed Energy still left in Japan. The vast majority of these Cursed Spirits will form in Tokyo, as Yuji explained himself in JJK Modulo Chapter 25. Together with Nobara, he intends to raise the next generation of Heavenly Restriction Users, and turn them into powerful sorcerers who can wield Cursed Tools. Yuji and Nobara will together mass-produce these cursed tools after taking control of the Gojo clan inventory. Given how strong they are, this should be quite easy for them. Once they accomplish this, they will start training the next generation. Together with them, Aoi Todo and, most likely, Panda will also aid in this task in whatever capacity they can. This will completely change the sorcerers of Japan for the better and carve an incredibly exciting future that we might get to witness if Gege Akutami makes his return with another manga.
Nobara: Who even knows how to become a cursed object?
Yuji: That's why I'm saying we should all look for a way together.
Nobara: If only Fushiguro were here at a time like this.

When Yuji Itadori removed Cursed Energy from the next generation, he changed Japanese society forever. Cursed Energy is a power source and something that is ingrained in all those born in Japan. Removing it is going against nature itself, which is something that Yuji acknowledges, but given that he has already made this decision, Yuji now intends to change the world for good. This is why Yuji and Nobara together will create a new world order, one where Cursed Energy doesn't exist any longer and powerful Heavenly Restriction users rule. This era will also see the mass production of Cursed Tools and perhaps even the invention of various new Cursed Tools. Perhaps some Cursed Energy and Cursed Techniques can be imbued into Cursed Tools and then used through them, which would also make for an interesting concept. Nobara's Straw Doll Technique might come into play here, and we most certainly hope to see her leave a mark on this new era of Jujutsu.
"I'm going to live for another 300 or so years. I will handle whatever follows. And if necessary, I'll bear the consequences of this great sin." — Yuji confirms his lifespan, Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo Chapter #22
Sadly, this new duo is not going to last long. This is because Nobara is aging rapidly and is already quite old. In the next few years, Nobara will most likely be dead, leaving behind Yuji Itadori, who intends to live for at least 300 years longer. When Yuji Itadori dies after 300 years, he will then turn into a cursed object similar to Ryomen Sukuna. Yuji being turned into a cursed object would complete his story and save him as a trump card against any threat that humanity could face 3 centuries into the future. This means we might officially get to see Yuji Itadori reincarnate, but as far as Nobara goes, her journey will end in the next couple of years.
